New Photo Montage Service
New 360° Photo Montage Service
AAM has released a new version of our spherical 360º photographic documentation software. This proprietary suite of tools is a site inspection package that permits users to walk-through a site by viewing spherical 360º photographs hot-linked to maps, plans or aerial photographs.
The high-resolution images are viewed using a simple software interface that enables users to zoom and pan to specific objects of interest (e.g.pumps, pipe tie-in locations etc). Once a photo montage package for a site has been compiled, the product can be easily distributed to any number of users that the client nominates or can be viewed across a corporate intranet. This is an attractive feature well suited to the modern workplace where teams of engineers may be located in various parts of the world.
Numerous 360º views of a site are viewed using specialised AAM software. The attached figures show one of the spherical images unwrapped as an equirectangular image.
Building on earlier versions, the latest edition of this software can be served across the internet and can be customised to enable dynamic positioning on accompanying maps. Security features have also been improved ensuring that sensitive imagery is only available to users with permission.
Well established and routinely employed by our survey field parties this technology has proven to be a huge success. It reduces the need for engineers and decision-makers to access hazardous sites. It also enhances the decision-making processes by placing virtual representations of the same site on the PC of each team member. For example, the same pipe tie-in and proposed pipe route can be examined prior to the design process.
Demonstration material is available from Dr Stuart Gordon on S.Gordon@aamhatch.com.au
