  • SATELLITE IMAGERY FOR MINE SITES

Satellite Imagery For Mine Sites

Satellite imagery is being used for a range of applications and agencies. The following project provides a range of interesting insights.

Recently AAM delivered new IKONOS satellite imagery over 6 mine sites in Queensland and Western Australia to a client. The new capture provided an update on revegetation work currently being undertaken at these sites.

Five mine sites were ‘new captures’ by IKONOS. Three of these five sites were captured in less then two weeks of placing the order, and all five sites were captured within three weeks. All of the new captures were cloud-free. One mine site was covered by imagery already in the IKONOS archive that had been captured in October 2006. This archival image was delivered within 3 days of placing the order.

The IKONOS satellite imagery was delivered in digital format, with both Near Infra-Red and visible colour bands provided. This will allow the vegetation vigour of the rehabilitated sites to be assessed. Hardcopy posters, printed at 1:5,000 and 1:7,500, were also provided to our client.

Contact us for information about how IKONOS could be used on your projects.
