Brookfield Completes 210 Million Dollar Research Facility

AAM congratulates Brookfield Multiplex on the completion of the $210 million Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity.

Located in Parkville, Melbourne and owned by the University of Melbourne, the facility will be a world-class institute combining research into infectious disease and immunity with teaching excellence.

Architecturally designed by Grimshaw in conjunction with Billard Leece Partnership, features of the design include:

  • 14 stories;
  • 26,000 square metres of floor space;
  • Specialised medical research laboratories;
  • A 200-seat auditorium; and
  • Integrated state of the art teaching facilities.

AAM was engaged as the survey consultant on this high-tech facility and provided complete construction control for the project.  This included typical surveys for datum control, slab set outs and control for the lift core.  Prior to construction, AAM undertook a dilapidation survey to document the existing condition of neighbouring buildings, surveyed and monitored adjoining properties and undertook a laser scan of the roof to assist for helipad access. The specialised glass curtain wall, a feature of the façade, required highly accurate control surveys during installation.

AAM is proud to have provided our industry leading construction survey services during throughout the two year construction period.
