The Fitzroy region, including Rockhampton and surrounds, was imaged on Friday 2 February around 11am. The satellite orthoimages produced by RapidEye (5 metre spatial resolution) dramatically illustrate the extent of the flood waters.
Having a constellation of five identical satellites with daily revisit capabilities enabled RapidEye to image this region quickly with a low ‘off-nadir’ acquisition angle. This is invaluable for many digital analysis techniques.
RapidEye imagery before and after this recent event is also available in five spectral bands over Rockhampton and other affected areas of the huge Fitzroy Basin. Major communities also available include: Biloela, Wowan, Jambin and others.
