OGC elects Mohamed-Ghouse to Board

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has announced the election of Dr. Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse to its Board of Directors.

“Aligning geospatial data innovation and utility across industry, academia and government is OGC’s calling,” said Jeffrey Harris, Chair of the OGC Board of Directors. 

 

“Zaffar is a geospatial rainmaker whose broad first-hand experience will bring important insights and marketplace understanding to the OGC Board. His expertise across a variety of use-cases will allow OGC to optimize our prioritization of consortium activities.”

Dr. Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse HonFSSSI FRGS FIEAust SMIEEE MAICD is a renowned geomatic scientist, engineer and global industry leader who is currently senior advisor for strategy and innovation within Woolpert’s geospatial leadership team, based in Melbourne, Australia. He has over 25 years of experience in the geospatial industry as a trusted advisor to several global National, State, and Local Governments, Institutions, and Private Organizations and in developing Geospatial Master Plans, standards, governance, strategies, policies, architectures, data models, data infrastructure, business cases and roadmaps. 

Zaffar holds appointments as Professor at renowned academic institutions in Australia and India. He actively publishes scientific and thought-leadership papers and books concerning applications of geospatial in water, agriculture, forestry, asset management, disaster management, environmental monitoring, smart cities, spatial digital twins, data ecosystems, data infrastructure, and archaeology. 

He serves on many International and National Boards, Editorial of Journals, and Scientific Committees to name a few, including United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management – Private Sector and Geospatial Societies Network, Vice President – International Society for Digital Earth, Australian Representative for ISO TC 211 Standards, World Geospatial Industry Council, ISPRS, Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute and Locate Conferences in Australia. Zaffar also actively and passionately mentors geospatial professionals – young, mid-level and immigrants.

Zaffar has delivered several successful and impactful International and National Geospatial conferences and congresses globally and in Australia. He is currently focused on Space and Spatial sector integration and passionately looks to support the earth observation community.  He brings his rich and diverse Board experience to OGC.
