RapidEye Satellite Captures:

The constellation of RapidEye satellites is continuing its efforts to image several active fire areas of New South Wales despite the challenges of smoke and haze.

These swaths of satellite imagery shown above were captured 19, 20 and 26 October.

The RapidEye satellite orthoimagery, with a spectral resolution of 5m, has been utilised in Victoria and New South Wales to map fire extents and severity in previous fire seasons.

With the daily coverage capability and five spectral bands, RapidEye offers vital time series information to complement the spatial and temporal resolution of other satellite imaging systems with such as MODIS and Landsat.
