Last week, Woolpert had the pleasure of returning as proud Silver Sponsor of the Australian Institute of Mine Surveyor (AIMS) National Conference, the premier geospatial event within the mining industry. Hosted at Crown Perth, #AIMS2024 boasted a three-day program focused on professional development, connectivity and collaboration, attracting over 240 delegates from all corners of the country.
A longtime corporate supporter of AIMS, the Woolpert team were on-site, excited to welcome and connect with the mining surveyor community on stage and at our display at booth 15 in the exhibition hall.
Enabling a stronger environmental legacy through aerial data
Glenn Morrison, Vice President and Asia-Pacific Director of Operations, delivered a presentation on the development of spatial data sets for mining rehabilitation and development, drawing on how advancements in Aerial LiDAR and Imagery enables informed decision making to create a stronger environmental legacy.
In the many years and decades from exploration to rehabilitation, resource owners and operations work to ensure the environments in which they operate, are restored to what they previously were, or improved.
Geospatial data, particularly aerial-based data, plays a key role in capturing detail on how the landscape appeared prior to operations; its changes over time; and finally in its rehabilitated state. This data is critical to ongoing operations, regulatory requirements and enabling achievement of environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.

Our Woolpack on-site included Director of Operations Glenn Morrison, Resources Account Manager Anthony Boyd, and Contracts Administrator Heidi Andrews.
A special mention to the winner of the Woolpert prize draw Brett Grocock of Mine Surveys Plus, who guessed the lucky number of globe lollies inside the jar, and took home the grand prize!
