Congratulations to Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, Director – Strategic Advisory and Consulting, who was announced as Professional of the Year by the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) at the 2022 Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) – Victoria region.
Held as part of the 2022 Victorian Surveying & Spatial Summit on Thursday 27 October, the APSEA-Victoria awards celebrate the achievements of top geospatial organisations and individuals.
The Professional of the Year award recognises a practitioner who is working in any of the disciplines of the surveying and spatial sciences whose professional achievements are acknowledged by peer citation as exemplifying the highest standards of excellence and ethical conduct.
Dr Zaffar is one of the global leaders in the geospatial industry and he has served in a voluntary capacity in various leadership roles with SSSI.
A board member of Locate Conferences since 2015, Dr Zaffar is also a steering committee member of the Australian Spatial and Space 2030 Roadmap. He actively mentors geospatial professionals and those newly arrived to Australia.
Frequently invited to advise governments on space and spatial agenda, he also volunteers with the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management, and serves on the World Geospatial Industry Council and OGC boards. Dr Zaffar also represents Australia on the ISO Technical Committee 211(Geomatics) and International Federation of Surveyors (FIG).
